The Watchmen to be made into video game

Published by sallen77 at 9:43 am under news Edit This

Having just seen Batman - The Dark Knight (wow, by the way… wow!), I was thoroughly confused by the trailer for The Watchmen. I’d like to think that I know my fair share of graphic novels and superhero stories, but here is one I’ve never heard of.

Nonetheless, the movie looked interesting. And, in true superhero to movie fashion, it comes complete with video game. This one seems to be going a little above and beyond however. Tying into the debut of the movie in March 2009, Warner Bros. announced that an episodic downloadable game will become available. The game, created by Deadline Games, will serve as a prequel to the movie and will feature Nite Owl and Rorschach as the heroes.

A second game will be released later in the year and will coincide with the release of the movie into DVD.

I am seriously the last person on Earth who hasn’t seen Dark Knight! It’s lonely over here.

You’ve been tagged (just to show you how much I <3 you). Come over and see what the fuss is about.

You don’t know the Watchmen? Even I know the Watchmen, and I’m supposed to be clueless as far as superhero stuff is concerned.

The graphic novel in question is by Alan Moore–it’s basically something of a deconstruction of the superhero genre, in an alternate-timeline America. Been a while since I’ve read it, but I remember it being good. If you’re the type, I recommend settling down with it in the nearest bookstore that carries it–it’s mainstream and Important enough that they should have it at either of the Big B’s–and getting through it. Whether you enjoy it or not, you’ll Get It, and that’s the important part, right?
