about me

Published by sallen77

From the early days of Atari’s Barnstorming and Combat, I knew there was something magical going on when I picked up those controllers for the first time as a little girl. The way my heart jumped as I did something right in a game was more exciting than any day of dress-up.

Unfortunately my parents caught on early and consoles never returned to my home. Instead, I relied on the kindness of friends for my Super Mario, Zelda and Friday the 13th fix. Gaming became stolen moments for me, angling for that opportunity whenever it appeared.

Thankfully, the older I got the easier it became finding those moments. Lazy Sunday afternoons kicking the guys’ collective asses at DOA2.

And then I met my husband… He was the dealer to my gaming addiction - letting me revel in all my gaming glory. PC, PS2, if there was a game out there, we tried it. FPS, sim, RPG, RTS, point and click adventures, you name it, we’ve played it. Until the World of Warcraft. For the past three years, Azeroth keeps calling us back when we dare to look in another game’s direction…

That’s the condensed version. If you want to know more, feel free to hop over to The Escapist to read this article I wrote a few months ago on growing up a female gamer.

Outside of gaming, I am a freelance writer, living in Upstate New York with my husband and our two cats.

All the best!
Stacey
